Our Purpose:
As a volunteer organization, the Lakewood Service League is committed to improving the Lakewood/East Dallas community by cultivating interest among its members in the economic, educational, cultural and civic conditions of the area.
Each year, its members dedicate countless hours to community projects and organizations. The League helps many charitable agencies and non-profit organizations meet their financial obligations by contributing thousands of dollars.
The service area includes zip codes 75204, 75206, 75214, 75218, 75223, 75226 and 75246. Lakewood Service League is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
Our Commitment to Community Service:
Encouraged by the success in the improvement of the Lakewood Park, the Lakewood Service League has since turned its focus to the entire Lakewood/East Dallas community. Nestled between the tall buildings of downtown Dallas and the rolling hills surrounding White Rock Lake, our community is one of many contrasts. It's a community whose needs are great and varied.
The Lakewood Service League serves the needs of the community through the projects it supports:
- Primary care for both young and old
- Educational enrichment for pre-school through high school students, and for both English and non-English speaking students
- Employment counseling and placement
- Cultural and recreational programs for all ages and economic levels
- Providing basic necessities of food, clothing and shelter to those in need
Our Events:
Although the League’s members provide the “womanpower” for the many projects they support, the means for providing financial assistance to its charities must be sought from the community.
The Lakewood Service League conducts two major fundraisers each year. Our annual Walk, Wag and Run is typically held the fourth Saturday in October. Our Spring Benefit is an evening event featuring silent and live auctions and entertainment. The generosity of the community is relied upon for individual and corporate cash donations and merchandise. Our annual events offer individuals and businesses an opportunity to make an investment in the Lakewood/East Dallas area by supporting the League’s activities and its charities.
